African Violet Society of Burlington County's Show

Today we took a drive to Medford, NJ and checked out African Violet Society of Burlington County's show. What great exhibits they had, and a really cute Dr. Suess show theme too! (note: all photos in this post can be clicked to enlarge)

The winners table--Sandy Skalski swept most of the show, as usual :-)

Little ones and trailers

And I was really happy to run into 2 of my favorite ladies from the Springfield, PA club--Barbara Jones and Peggy Mooney!

Southern New Jersey African Violet Club's First Show & A Visit To Fancy Bloomers

Today we took a ride to Egg Harbor City, NJ and checked out the Southern New Jersey AVC's very first African violet show! (Note: All the pics in this post can be clicked to enlarge)
SNJAVC's Very First Show!
A good first effort, and I think they'll definitely improve as the club gets more and more established. We all gotta start somewhere! I'm really excited about this new club and will probably be joining them.

Then we took a little ride to Fancy Bloomers. The owner, Donna, is also a member of SNJAVC. WOW, her space is chock full of gorgeous plants! I'll just let these pictures explain...

Lenny, you better not be stealing leaves!
Lenny bought me a Rob's Ooey Gooey as my Mother's Day Gift. (Because I told him to, of course)
Here's a pic of Donna's Rob's Ooey Gooey. Nice huh?

That's all for now, hope all the moms out there have a Happy Mother's Day, and to all the people for whom the day is bitter-sweet (me included), give yourself an extra hug, and maybe hug someone else you love too. <3

Yay!

I won "Best Non-Member Plant" for my Saintpaulia grotei Silvert clone at the Garden State show!

Also got a blue ribbon for Sinningia pusilla, and a red on Sinningia Bright Eyes. I prolly shouldn't have bothered entering Bright Eyes, but oh well--I still think it's cute!

Judging Time at Garden State!

I'm clerking, yay!

Windsor African Violet Show!

We're setting up! I'm helping Doreen do classifications and entries while everyone does last-minute touch-ups on their show plants.

If you're in Windsor, Connecticut this Saturday, check out the show! It's at 311 Broad Street. I won't be there because I'll be at the Garden State show this weekend, but I'm glad I was able to do my little job for this awesome club before we take off for NJ!

African Violet Road Trip Part 2: The Violet Barn

Just leaving Violet Barn now, feeling like the luckiest girl on Earth. Managed to hit TWO huge African violet vendors in one day, could anything be more awesome?

Just like the "Part 1" post, I'm just gonna post some random pics until I can do a "real" (ie not from my phone) post. Oh yes, there are Super Secret things from the "Restricted Access" room that have to be shown in better detail.

What did I buy? Celina Dark Velvet, Rob's Lucky Penny, Rob's Twinkle Blue, and Rob's Twinkle Pink.

Man, Lyndon Lyon's AND Violet Barn all in one day. I'm feeling very fulfilled. And very tired!

African Violet Road Trip Part 1: Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses

Just left Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses, Where the BEST Violets Are!

Here's a few random pics to entertain you for a minute. I'll try and put up more later when I'm not posting from my phone and can add bigger pics with captions and stuff. (hint: Paul took me into the Super Secret "employees only" room, the things I photographed in there require explanations!)
Oh, but I know you're curious which plants jumped into my shopping bag. Kid Karla, Lil' Ballerina, and Sierra Sunrise.

That's all for now, we're on our way to part 2 of our road trip: Violet Barn here we come!

Paul Sorano and some chick!
